| CSV (Community Service Volunteers) is the UK's largest volunteering charity, founded in 1962 by Mora and Alec Dickson who also founded the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).
We create opportunities for people to take an active part in the life of their community through volunteering, training and community action.
Last year 164,000 people gave 4.1 million hours of their time as volunteers through CSV.
Volunteers worked in schools, hospitals, the media and a whole raft of other environments. Opportunities for how you can make a difference can be found at www.csv.org.uk.
CSV & the Media
CSV also uses radio, TV, video, web and print to inform, empower and inspire people and to give different communities a voice. We run the Action Desk Network on BBC Local Radio and run the Community Pages on Ceefax, amongst other things.
In addition, we also provide training in radio, TV, web, print and journalism. Training is 'hands on' and ranges from short bite sized courses to A Level standard qualifications. In 2004 we worked with over 3,000 people on media training programmes, combining practical work experience with tuition for small groups.
More information about our media training can be found at: www.csv.org.uk/media
